Actress Han YeSeul recently expressed her concerns about excessive sweating.

On her YouTube channel 'Han YeSeul is,' Han revealed that she has been experiencing a surge in sweating lately. She said, “I wasn’t someone who used to sweat a lot, but now, even without being nervous, I find myself sweating at all times.”

She continued, “I’m really sweating a lot these days. It happens all the time. I’m worried that it will get worse with menopause. Will I be sweating like this even in the middle of winter?”

What Are Menopause Symptoms and How to Manage Them

Han YeSeul, now 42, is worried about the potential increase in sweating with menopause. Estrogen, a female hormone, helps regulate body temperature by acting on the hypothalamus in the brain. During menopause, estrogen levels decrease, making the hypothalamus more sensitive and less effective at regulating temperature. This can lead to sudden feelings of heat and increased sweating as the body attempts to cool down.

To alleviate excessive sweating during menopause, it is beneficial to consume foods rich in plant-based estrogens, such as isoflavones. These can be found in soybeans, tofu, miso, and fermented soybeans. It is also advisable to avoid caffeine and alcohol, which can stimulate the autonomic nervous system and increase sweating. Instead, drinking herbal teas can help calm the nerves and reduce sweating. Regular exercise and adequate hydration are also effective for temperature regulation.

If excessive sweating continues to disrupt daily life despite these measures, hormone replacement therapy (HRT) may be considered. By supplementing estrogen and progesterone, HRT can help balance hormones and alleviate menopausal symptoms. Additionally, medications like anticholinergics can reduce sweat gland activity and decrease sweating. However, any such treatments should be used under the guidance of a healthcare professional.
