Celltrion is expanding its presence in Italy as its autoimmune disease treatments and cancer therapies continue to secure wins in regional government tenders.

Celltrion’s Italian subsidiary announced on August 12 that, following earlier wins this year in four regional government tenders for its autoimmune disease treatment Steqeyma(ustekinumab), it has recently secured additional contracts in Veneto, Trentino-Alto Adige, and Sardinia. With these latest results, the company achieved bidding successes in seven regions in the first half of the year alone and plans to supply the products to these areas through May 2026.

The company’s flagship autoimmune therapy, the Remsima(infliximab) franchise, is also maintaining strong performance in Italian tenders. In Umbria, Remsima won the infliximab tender, while in Apulia, Remsima SC(subcutaneous injection) successfully renewed its contract and will be supplied until May 2027. Notably, in Sardinia—previously the only region where Celltrion’s infliximab products were not supplied—a new tender for the SC formulation was recently established, enabling Remsima SC to be sold in all 20 Italian regional governments.

These tender results are translating into tangible prescription growth. According to pharmaceutical market research firm IQVIA, as of the first quarter of this year, the combined market share of the two Remsima products in Italy reached 66%, dominating the infliximab market.

Celltrion’s oncology portfolio is also performing well. Truxima(rituximab) and Vegzelma(bevacizumab) have won tenders in Lazio and Umbria, respectively, and have been supplied since the first half of the year. Building on these wins, the company’s three cancer therapies—Truxima, Vegzelma, and Herzuma(trastuzumab) for breast and gastric cancer—are each maintaining market shares of around 30%, solidifying their positions. Additional tenders for these products are scheduled in the second half of the year, suggesting continued growth in Celltrion’s oncology supply.

Yoo Won-sik, Head of Celltrion Italy, said, “Our autoimmune and oncology products are achieving successive tender wins in Italy, strengthening our market presence. In the second half, we will continue to launch new products and secure additional contracts to drive prescription growth and performance across our entire portfolio.”
