Yoon SeA with an enviable body…Thanks to daily morning run?
[Celebrity Health] Actress Yoon SeA Running
Actress Yoon SeA (46) showed off her body, which she maintains through running.
On the 5th, Yoon SeA's daily life was revealed on the SBS Plus and E Channel show *"Solo Because"*.
On that day, Yoon SeA woke up at 5:20 AM and headed to a nearby elementary school playground. Yoon SeA, who enjoys running over 5 km every morning, said, “The more I run, the healthier I become, and the quality of my life improves. Also, there’s a sense of achievement. It feels like I can calmly start my day.”
Seemingly familiar with the area, Yoon SeA greeted the local residents and began her run after a light stretch. She said, “As running becomes more natural to me, I lose all my thoughts. My thoughts fade away, and I can focus only on my breathing and the sound of my steps.” She added, “If I don’t run, I can’t stay still. I’m suppressing it through running.”
For her running outfit, Yoon SeA chose a bra top and shorts, showing off a toned physique that defied her age of 40. Upon seeing her, Hwang JungEum exclaimed, "Unni, your body is a work of art!" and Shin DongYeob asked, “Of course, it's athletic wear, but don’t the local ladies dislike it when you’re dressed like that?”
Yoon SeA replied, “At first, I was shy, so I tried to cover up and wore thicker clothes. But as I approached it professionally, I realized I needed functional clothing. When I wore thick clothes, they would chafe and hurt.”
Running, Beneficial for Both Physical and Mental Health
The running that Yoon SeA enjoys is a classic aerobic exercise, burning a lot of calories per hour, which helps significantly with weight loss. It is also good for developing lower body muscles such as the glutes, thighs, and calves, providing strength training benefits as well.
Furthermore, consistent running has been shown to extend lifespan. A research team in Copenhagen, Denmark, analyzed health data from 20,000 men and women aged 20 to 93 over 30 years and found that running increases the lifespan by 6.2 years for men and 5.6 years for women. According to the researchers, running for a total of 1 to 2.5 hours per week, at a slightly breathless pace, is enough.
As Yoon SeA mentioned, running is also beneficial for mental health. Running at a heart rate of 120 beats per minute for about 30 minutes can lead to a "runner’s high" phenomenon, which induces feelings of exhilaration and happiness. During the run, you focus solely on yourself, and the process of moving your body can relieve feelings of depression. According to research from the University of Amsterdam, running has a similar effect on alleviating depression as medication.
Wearing Functional Clothes That Dry Sweat Well is Beneficial
Wearing appropriate attire can help make running more comfortable. It’s best to wear clothes made from moisture-wicking, functional materials. For women, wearing a sports bra can be effective in protecting the chest area.
The Korea Consumer Agency selected 30 women in their 20s and alternated between seven types of sports bras and regular bras, measuring the degree of chest movement while walking or running on a treadmill.
As a result, the distance the chest moved after 15 steps was 176.7 cm when wearing a sports bra, compared to 220.0 cm when wearing a regular bra, which was a reduction of 43.3 cm (20%) on average. Also, when walking quickly for 15 steps, the chest moved 145.0 cm in a sports bra, which was 22.4 cm (13%) less than the 167.4 cm of movement when wearing a regular bra.
The Consumer Agency explained, “The chest is made up of glandular tissue and fat layers, suspended by the Cooper’s ligaments attached to the chest wall. Continuous movement during exercise can impact the chest, causing damage to the Cooper's ligaments, so wearing a sports bra is recommended.”
Also, with the temperatures starting to drop, it’s advisable to wear neck warmers, masks, beanies, and gloves to protect your body temperature. Instead of simply wearing bulky clothes, it’s more efficient to layer multiple pieces. In particular, it’s best to wear breathable, moisture-wicking clothes closest to the skin, with outerwear that retains body heat.
Since muscles and blood vessels contract in colder weather, it’s essential to warm up thoroughly to avoid injury. Stretching key areas such as the ankles, hips, and lower back, along with exercises like jogging in place and slow burpees, will help raise your body temperature gradually.
