GABEE proudly showed off her bright white teeth after getting a laminate procedure. On the 25th, during an appearance on the MBC variety show “Radio Star,” she was asked by MC Jang Do-yeon if she had a makeover.

GABEE responded with a big smile, “My teeth the whitest here. I recently got a laminate.” She explained her reason for the procedure, saying, “My teeth were okay, but I didn’t like the color. It was kind of yellowish and not pretty.”

She added, “There’s no middle ground—I went for the whitest option. I told the dentist to make them as white as a refrigerator door,” which made everyone laugh. When MC Kim Gura asked if they would discolor over time, Gabi replied, “They will. That’s why I made them white.”

Laminate is Quick Fix for Teeth Complex

The laminate procedure GABEE underwent is widely known and often chosen by many celebrities for cosmetic reasons. It involves shaving down the enamel and attaching porcelain veneers to quickly improve the color, shape, and arrangement of the teeth.

Laminate is a good option for those with smaller-than-normal teeth or gaps between their teeth, as it requires minimal to no tooth reduction and can resolve aesthetic concerns with fewer side effects.

Tooth Sensitivity is Possible Side Effects

However, the shaving process can lead to side effects. If the enamel is removed and the underlying dentin is exposed, it can cause sensitivity as stimuli reach the nerves. Once tooth structure is removed, it cannot regenerate, so it’s crucial to consult experienced professionals and only remove the necessary amount.

Post-procedure care is also important. If too much force is applied to the treated teeth, the veneers can break. Therefore, after getting laminates, it’s advisable to avoid hard or chewy foods and habits like nail-biting.

For similar reasons, those who grind their teeth at night, have a habit of clenching, or have misaligned teeth are at higher risk of breaking the veneers and should consider the procedure more carefully.

Preventing Tooth Discoloration

GABEE mentioned that she chose the laminate procedure because she was worried about her yellow teeth. Various factors can lead to tooth discoloration, including consuming dark-colored foods like coffee, curry, and wine, smoking, dental diseases, and long-term use of tetracycline antibiotics.

Preventing discoloration can be as simple as proper brushing. When consuming pigmented foods, brushing immediately can help remove pigments before they penetrate deeply into the tooth surface.

Drinking water or rinsing the mouth frequently can also help prevent staining. Using a straw when drinking coffee or other beverages is a good idea, as it reduces contact between the teeth and staining substances.

Some people try home remedies like rubbing lemon or banana on their teeth, believing it will whiten them. However, this can actually harm the teeth. The acids in fruit can erode the enamel, making teeth temporarily appear whiter but ultimately weakening them, so it’s best to avoid this practice.
