Hwasa “Wearing a Bra Makes Me Feel Bloated”...Benefits of Going Braless?
[Celeb Health] Hwasa revealed her preference for going braless
Hwasa of K-pop girl group Mamamoo revealed her preference for going braless.
She appeared as a guest on the YouTube channel ‘STUDIO SUZE’ for the show "After Breakfast 2" on the 24th.
During the episode, host Jang SungKyu asked, "Everything Hwasa does becomes a topic of discussion. Has there been any unexpected issue?" Hwasa responded, "Yes, the no-bra issue." She mentioned that she gained attention for her no-bra fashion five years ago at the airport.
Hwasa explained, "It’s really uncomfortable. Personally, when I wear underwear, I feel bloated while eating. I've felt this way since I was young." She shared, "At first, the other members were shocked, saying, 'Hwasa, no!' But I thought, how long can I keep wearing this every day? So I started wearing it in informal settings at first, not realizing it was such a bad thing.“
Jang SungKyu replied, "It's not a bad thing," to which Hwasa added, "Back then, that was the perception. Now everyone is more flexible about it." Jang SungKyu commented, "Hwasa has popularized going braless," and Hwasa replied, "If that's the case, I'm truly honored.“
Tight Bras Can Cause Digestive Issues
As Hwasa mentioned, wearing a tight bra can indeed lead to digestive problems. Additionally, prolonged discomfort from bras can cause muscle tension in the back and shoulders. If the bra has underwire, it can obstruct blood and lymph flow.
However, bras are not only disadvantageous. The area beneath the breasts can easily sweat, leading to potential bacterial growth. Wearing a bra can reduce skin contact and help prevent infections.
Bras also serve to minimize nipple irritation. Without underwear, friction between the breast and clothing can cause pain. Furthermore, wearing a bra during vigorous exercise can protect the Cooper's ligaments that support the breast.
Best to Remove the Bra While Sleeping
While there are situations where bras are necessary, it is advisable to remove them while sleeping. A study by researchers from Nara University in Japan found that the average melatonin level of women aged 18 to 23 who did not wear a bra at night was 115.2 pg/mL, significantly higher than the 51.3 pg/mL when wearing one.
Melatonin is a hormone that induces sleep. The research team analyzed that the pressure from wearing a bra affects our biological rhythms, leading to these results.
How to Wear a Bra Properly
It's also important to wear a bra correctly. First, place the straps over your shoulders and hold the bottom of the bra. Lean forward to fit your breasts into the cups. After fastening the hooks, lightly hold the shoulder straps and shake to position your breasts properly inside the cups. Then, stand up straight and press down on the cup edges while pulling the side and top flesh into the cups.
After wearing the bra, check that the straps are horizontal, the breasts are well-centered in the cups, and there are no wrinkles in the band. Also, ensure that the bra doesn't move significantly when you raise and lower your arms.
