Singer Kim JaeJoong revealed his ultimate diet secret.

Recently, a video titled "13 Years Into Debut, Moment's Idol BTOB" was posted on Kim JaeJoong’s YouTube channel. In the video, Kim JaeJoong stated, "I know the ultimate diet method; in just 4 days, you can change your face shape like an idol."

He said, "For 4 days, avoid carbohydrates entirely and eat only meat and fruit. The finale is to drink one and a half bottles of whiskey alone," and continued, "Even if you feel like you're dying the next day, you must drink more whiskey. Carbohydrates are absolutely forbidden." He explained that during the time you’re drinking whiskey, moisture is lost.

Reducing Carbohydrates Can Boost Weight Loss, But It Can Harm Your Health

The method introduced by Kim JaeJoong can lead to short-term weight loss due to reduced carbohydrate intake. Carbohydrates found in rice, bread, etc., break down into glucose in the body. Excess carbohydrates are stored as triglycerides, leading to weight gain. Eating fewer carbohydrates helps the body break down stored proteins and fats, aiding in weight loss. Particularly, the process of fat breakdown produces ketones, which can enhance fat breakdown and lead to significant weight loss.

However, while initial weight loss might be noticeable, prolonged carbohydrate restriction can cause constipation, vomiting, and hypoglycemia. It can also lead to fatigue, lethargy, and impaired brain function, as carbohydrates are an essential nutrient used by the brain for energy. Extreme restriction of carbohydrates makes it difficult for brain cells and neurotransmitters to function properly.

Cutting Carbs and Drinking Alcohol? Accelerates Muscle Loss

Restricting carbohydrates while consuming only meats is not considered a healthy approach. The Korean Society for the Study of Obesity advises against ultra-low-carb, high-fat diets due to their potential adverse effects on health. Excessive fat intake can activate enzymes that break down fats, increasing triglycerides and cholesterol levels in the blood, which can be harmful, especially for those with cardiovascular conditions.

Additionally, consuming alcohol while reducing carbohydrates accelerates muscle loss. Though protein is known to be essential for muscle growth, carbohydrates are also important. Lack of carbohydrates leads to depleted glycogen levels, making proper muscle synthesis difficult. Glycogen, stored in the liver and muscles, is crucial for muscle recovery and growth. Alcohol disrupts the metabolism of proteins and carbohydrates needed for muscle repair and growth.

For a healthy diet, it's wise to consider your health condition and plan long-term goals. Instead of aiming for rapid weight loss, targeting a 10% reduction in weight over 6 months is preferable. It's essential to include fats, carbohydrates, and proteins in your diet. Combining aerobic and strength training exercises is important, and if finding time to exercise is challenging, changing daily habits, like walking two subway stations or using stairs, can also help.
