Actress Lee Yoon-mi recently revealed her personal secrets to maintaining a youthful appearance.

In a recent social media post, Lee emphasized the importance of home care for issues like double chins and nasolabial(between the nose (naso-) and the upper lip (-labial)) folds. She wrote, "I looked at some old photos and was shocked. Even though I was younger, the wrinkles made me look much older."

She added, "Just by addressing double chins, nasolabial folds, sagging cheeks, and crow's feet, you can look five years younger. The idea that treatments are the only way to manage your skin is outdated. If you invest just one hour a week, you'll notice your facial contours improving and your skin becoming firmer." Lee Yoon-mi, who is married to composer Joo Young-hoon and has three daughters, is 42 years old.

Double Chins and Nasolabial Folds: Signs of Aging
The double chin and wrinkles Lee mentioned are common signs of aging. A double chin occurs as the skin sags with age. The fat cells and muscles in the face lose their elasticity and slacken, causing the skin to droop downward due to gravity.

A double chin can be managed with simple at-home stretches. Tilt your head back to look at the ceiling, extend your lips for 10 seconds, and then slowly lower your head. This exercise helps to remove chin fat and strengthen the muscles in the face and neck. Another effective method is to press a clean tennis ball or baseball under your chin for 30 seconds.

Nasolabial folds are wrinkles that form on both sides of the nose, creating a shape resembling the number eight (八). Sagging cheeks, known as "bulldog cheeks," occur along these folds. As the cheeks lose their elasticity with age, these wrinkles deepen. The ligaments that support the cheek fat loosen, causing the skin to droop and fold into wrinkles.

As you age, these supporting ligaments naturally loosen, but regularly smiling and relaxing your facial muscles can help prevent aging. Smiling not only exercises the muscles around the mouth but also stimulates the production of endorphins, hormones that enhance cell regeneration and prevent aging.

Filling your mouth with air to puff out your cheeks for 5 to 10 seconds can also prevent nasolabial folds and sagging skin. Moving the air around in your mouth to exercise both cheeks enhances the effect.

Eye Area: Moisturize to Prevent Wrinkles
The eye area is particularly prone to wrinkles due to aging. Unlike other facial skin, the skin around the eyes has fewer sebaceous glands, making it less oily. Without adequate moisturizing, this area can quickly become dry. If wrinkles have already formed, special care is needed.

Once wrinkles appear, they tend to worsen if not treated with sufficient moisture and lifestyle adjustments. Habits like frequently rubbing your eyes or roughly removing eye makeup can aggravate wrinkles. The thin skin around the eyes loses elasticity even with minor irritation.

By following these tips and incorporating regular facial exercises and proper moisturizing into your routine, you can help maintain a youthful appearance and reduce the signs of aging.
