Actress Jin Seo-Yeon Reveals Juice Recipe to Reduce Morning Swelling

Actress Jin Seo-Yeon has shared her secret recipe for a juice that helps reduce morning swelling. Despite its unusual combination of tomatoes and coconut water, she explained, “Both tomatoes and coconut water help eliminate excess salt from the body. I carry this with me during shoots, and it significantly reduces my morning puffiness.”

Recently, Jin Seo-Yeon appeared on KBS2’s “New Item Release, Convenience Restaurant” where she disclosed her morning routine. She demonstrated the juice she drinks every morning, which includes frozen tomatoes, coconut water, and honey. “This is the best thing for reducing morning puffiness,” she said, describing it as the perfect summer drink, dubbed the ‘Tomato Coconut Smoothie.’

Tomatoes: High in Water Content and Antioxidants, Perfect for Morning Hydration

The smoothie shared by Jin Seo-Yeon is simple yet effective for hydration, detoxification, and reducing puffiness. The main ingredient, tomatoes, is known to have about 95% water content. Morning hydration is crucial after 7-8 hours of sleep when the body’s water levels are low. Proper hydration activates metabolism, promotes smooth blood circulation, and reduces the risk of blood clots. During summer, sweating during sleep can further deplete body fluids, making tomatoes an excellent choice for replenishing lost moisture and reducing puffiness.

Tomatoes are rich in antioxidants such as lycopene, beta-carotene, and lutein, which help combat aging. Lycopene, in particular, is known to have antioxidant effects approximately twice as powerful as beta-carotene and over 100 times that of vitamin E. It protects cells from damage by reactive oxygen species, thus slowing aging and reducing the risk of various cancers and cardiovascular diseases. According to the Cleveland Clinic, lycopene can reduce the risk of heart disease by 14%. Its absorption is enhanced when tomatoes are cooked.

Coconut Water: Rich in Potassium, Helps Eliminate Toxins and Reduce Swelling; Honey Boosts Morning Energy and Improves Circulation

Known as a natural isotonic drink, coconut water is effective for rehydration and replenishing electrolytes. It contains potassium, sodium, and magnesium, which help maintain the body’s fluid balance. Potassium, in particular, helps expel sodium and other wastes from the body, thereby reducing swelling.

For those who consume salty foods regularly, potassium intake is even more important. High sodium levels in the body can lead to water retention and swelling due to osmosis. Potassium is essential for the normal function of the heart, muscles, and nerves, helping to reduce swelling and lower blood pressure by promoting sodium excretion.

Adding honey to the tomato and coconut water mix not only enhances the taste but also provides a quick energy boost in the morning. Composed of over 90% sugars, honey is rapidly absorbed as an energy source. It raises body temperature, improves blood circulation, and helps reduce swelling. Additionally, honey is rich in anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, boosting immunity and preventing cancer.

Research from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center indicates that the antioxidants in honey can reduce oxidative stress and chronic inflammation, thus preventing cancer. However, due to its high sugar content, honey should be consumed in moderation. The American Heart Association recommends no more than 9 teaspoons of honey per day for men and 6 teaspoons for women and children.
